Letters, writings, and related materials, some bound in a volume, pertaining to Wood's work as a physician and as an ornithologist. Included are two detailed letters to his family and friends, typescript mimeograph, dated at Georgetown, British Guiana, Feb 22, 1922, 21 p., (incomplete), and Suva, Fiji Islands, Nov 12, 1923, 35 p., describing his travels as an ornithologist in South America and the South Pacific; and a letter to an unidentified recipient, typescript mimeograph, discussing his experiences in Italy, 1935-1936, and his impressions of political events there, [1936]. Writings, most typescript with manuscript corrections, include "The Outfit of a Native Doctor (Vederala) in Ancient and Medieval Times," with photographs, 1933; three versions of "Ceylon (Sinhalese) Olas or Book Manuscripts on Early Medicine and How They Were Made," 1934 and n.d.; two versions of "A Plea for the Continuation of Elliott Coues' Ornithological Bibliography," n.d.; and "Some Birds and Bird Portraits," n.d. Also present are "Report to Colonel William H. Welch, Chairman, by the Secretaries and Treasurer of the Osler Anniversary Fund," regarding Sir William Osler, typescript mimeograph, 1918; and "Robert Grosseteste, Teacher of Roger Bacon," by R. R. James, typescript, n.d. Related materials include a printed list of projects of the Casey A. Wood Foundation, n.d., and notes, quotations, and poems.

Born in Ontario, Canada, Dr. Osler was received his medical from McGill University in 1872. He became Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine's first professor of medicine in 1889. Casey Albert Wood, Canadian physician, was born in Wellington, Ontario, November 21, 1856. He was educated at Ottawa College Institute, Lennoxvllle University, and McGill University. He was a member of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Ontario. He practiced medicine in Montreal for some years .
