Asahel Foote (1804-1882), teacher and agriculturist of Williamstown, Mass. Following his graduation from Williams College in 1827, e taught at the Appleton Academy (New Ipswich, N.H.) and the Academy of St. Albans (Vt.). In 1832, he moved to Williamstown and opened his own boarding school. In 1842, Foote closed the school and devoted himself to agricultural pursuits.
