Letters to Count Alfred Guillaume Gabriel d'Orsay, 1838-1849 and undated.

Contains correspondence primarily between Landseer and D'Orsay, concerning art exhibitions at the Royal Academy and various works for Landseer's patrons, including Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and Lord and Lady Chesterfield. Half of the letters contain drawings in pencil or ink, representing portraits, human figures, horses, and dogs. Also includes one letter from Baroness Lehzen to Landseer and one letter from Clarkson Stanfield of the Royal Academy to Landseer. Manuscript copies of 17 of these letters, written in an unidentified hand, are placed at the end.
