Collection contains letters sent to Scheyer by artists and others, inventories and clippings: eleven letters and postcards from Lyonel Feininger, 1923-1936, expressing his pleasure that one of his works is in Scheyer's collection, sending a sample of watercolours and woodcuts for Scheyer to inspect, and describing how after a short journey to France he has resumed painting from "vertrauten norddeutschen Motiven". Three letters are illustrated with original woodcuts. Three later letters are from Julia Feininger concerning a catalogue raisonne. Twenty-seven letters from Alexej von Jawlensky, 1924-1938, discuss pictures which he has sent to Scheyer and the prices which he requires for them, asking whether Scheyer has seen an article about his work in Cahiers d'art, complaining that the Blaue Vier exhibition has been postponed and inquiring about paintings Galka (Emmy) Scheyer sold for him in America. Many of the letters reflect Jawlensky's despairing and at times almost suicidal mood at his lack of income and his deteriorating health; with three letters from his son Andrej Jawlensky. Three letters from the Bauhaus student and mural painter Jesekiel Kirschenbaum concern exhibition plans.
