Letters to Louis Prétet, 1882-1904.

The collection comprises thirty-seven letters, cards and telegrams written by established artists to Louis Prétet, a high ranking administrator - Commissaire aux Beaux-Arts, Société des Artistes Français and the Salon - between 1882 and 1904. Many of them contain recommendations for a good placement of the paintings sent by certain artists (often young) to the Salon and other exhibitions at Rouen, Nice and Tours. Most of the correspondents also express their gratitude for Prétet's help in various circumstances.

37 letters and 1 clipping.
