Volume containing autograph manuscript accounts, with printed maps annotated in manuscript showing passages of the Glory of the Seas. A map for each passage shows the ship's route, with times and distances sailed, and is followed by accounts of expenses while in port. Most passages are between San Francisco, California, and Liverpool, England; also included are passages between Cardiff, England, and San Francisco; Liverpool and New York City; New York City and San Francisco; and San Francisco and Sydney, Australia. Accounts list payments made by Knowles for J. Henry Sears and Co., ship owners, mostly to crewmember and for port expenses such as laborers, ship stores, repairs, and towing. Also present are newspaper clippings reporting passages made by the Glory of the Seas and by competing clipper ships. Laid in are four printed maps with manuscript annotations, undated, showing passages of the Glory of the Seas, 1876, and of other clipper ships commanded by Knowles, 1847-1870.
