Jeremiah Evarts letter to to David Root [manuscript], 1828 March 29.

Evarts, on behalf of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions, authorizes the purchase of supplies for missionary William F. Vaill, superintendent of the Union Mission in Arkansas Territory (present day Oklahoma). He reduces the amount requested, noting that only a half gallon of brandy be sent for extreme cases to be used in conjunction with Peruvian bark. He also asks Root to bear in mind Vaill's note about donations of clothing. As the letter solely concerns a mission to the Indians Evarts will arrange to have it sent without postage.
