Isaac T. and George I. Rogers scrapbooks, ca. 1710-1890.

Scrapbooks containing personal papers and mementos concerning the lives and careers of Colonel Isaac T. Rogers and his son, George T. Rogers, both of Milford, Connecticut. Included are letters from: Phineas T. Barnum (1865 Jun 30 and 1890 Jul 12 - the latter accompanied by photographs of Barnum and of the wedding of Tom Thumb); Colonel George Bristol (1837 May 13); James Dixon (1868 Feb 19); Daniel Coit Gilman (1868 Jul 18 and 1869 Mar 10); Charles Tudor Hillyer (1840 May 27); Julius Hotchkiss (1869 Jan 30), and Theodore Dwight Woolsey (1867 Sep 4 and 1868 Jul 14) Also included in the scrapbooks are: indentures signed by Issac T. Rogers; passport for Issac T. Rogers, signed by James Buchanan; Connecticut State and United States Army appointments and orders signed by Colonel George Bristol, William Wolcott Ellsworth, Charles Tudor Hillyer, and Charles Robert Ingersoll; Political memorabilia and printed items describing Isaac T. Rogers service as a respresentative in the Connecticut General Assembly (Democratic Party); Federal and Confederate currency of the Civil War period; and newspaper clippings and pamphlets relating to the history of Milford, Connecticut. Many loose items in the scrapbook remain unsorted and undescribed.
