This series consists of primarily correspondence and reports addressed to the Adjutant and Inspector General of Alabama. Topics include the activities of various militia units from throughout Alabama, rosters of militia units, requests for militia appointments and militia resignations. These materials document primarily military affairs on the home front during the Civil War. Most of the items are addressed to Hugh P. Waston, however there are letters to Joel Riggs, H.C. Lockhart, J.S. Moore, R.H. Dawson and N.H.R. Dawson. Particularly interesting is a publication contained in these material that concerns the Army Records of the State of Alabama that was authored by W.H. Fowler.
