Miscellaneous papers of Surrealistes-Revolutionnaires, 1944-1948 bulk 1947.

A collection of correspondence, meeting records, publications and ephemera of the group that called themselves the Surrealistes-Revolutionnaires. The group, rebelling against the Surrealists, was founded in 1947 by Christian Dotremont in Brussels, and Noël Arnaud in Paris. Includes correspondence between Dotremont and publisher André de Rache (2 letters and a postcard); written draft and published version of Manifesto des Surrealistes-Revolutionnaires en France, Paris, 1947; mimeographed meeting reports recording minutes and debates ("Pour un regroupement des Surrealistes en Belgique," Brussels, 1947 and "Pour désequivoquer l'action des Surrealistes en France," 1947); and printed ephemera such as publications, announcements, handbills/broadsides; stationary; press clippings; and a poster. Participants at the meetings included Yves Battistini, Paul Bourgoignie, André Breton, Dotremont, Edouard Jaquer, Lucien Justet, René Magritte, and Jean Seeger.
