Letter : Nice [France], 1954 September 30.

The collection comprises a two-page letter of Jean Gorin addressed to "Chère Madame"[Herta Wescher?], and two photographs. At the request of his correspondent, the artist sends 3 photographs of his works (only 2 in this coll.) to be used as illustrations in her article. Two of them are constructions in relief, which, he says, cannot be perceived from the photographs. He had started this kind of construction in 1930, when only Arp and he used that technique. The photos represent the three periods of his evolution towards "le dégagement complet du plan." Since the photographs are black and white, he also explains the polychromy, which is "dans le pur néo-plasticisme," red yellow blue, and grey black white. The titles inscribed on the two photos are "Plastique architecturale pour un quartier d'habitation dans l'espace, 1946," and "Bas relief émanant du triangle équilatéral, 1947."

1 letter.2 photographs black and white 18 x 12 cm. and 13 x 12 cm.
