Letters sent, ca. 1884-1885.

The collection comprises five letters; three of them are written on mourning stationery. In 1884 Sept. 8 Gustave Moreau thanks a friend for his condolences. He writes an acquaintance that he feels proud to learn from him about the high appreciation of a connoisseur (1885 June 18). The artist informs the art critic Roger-Marx that he will resume working on La licorne since listening to his powerful description of the unicorn's eye (ca. 1885). Moreau turns down the invitation of the minister des beaux-arts to send some works to the Brussels exhibition, because he has nothing ready (n.d.) He sends a thank-you letter to someone who sent him a promised gift (n.d.).
