Oral history interview with Yuri Galperin, 2001.

Interview topics include: Galperin's childhood and education in the Soviet Union; his graduation in astronomy from Moscow State University where he worked with Joseph Shklovsky and with Krassovsky, hoping to enter an institute of the Russian Academy. He was studying spectra of the polar aurora near Murmansk in 1958 when Sputnik was launched, and Krassovsky, who was heavily involved with the first scientific sputnik (Sputnik III) invited him to join the project. He then became active in Soviet space exploration where his most recent project was preparing for the "Roy" (swarm) mission, a cluster of 3-4 small satellites and a larger "mother ship" in the Earth's magnetosphere.
