Chiefly correspondence and legal and property records relating to Dixie Plantation in Charleston County (S.C.). Correspondence of the 1930s concerns the legal and financial affairs of one of the owners, Mrs. Madeleine T. Fiermonte (aka Mrs. Dick, formerly Madeleine Force Astor). Correspondents include P. Lyndon Dodge and the Charleston law firm of Mitchell & Horlbeck. Letters of 1949 concern a property line dispute between John Henry Dick, another owner of Dixie Plantation, and Dr. J. R. Allison, owner of the adjacent Dungannon Plantation. Other records consist of drafts of an abstract of title for Dixie Plantation, legal documents concerning sales of the property, and related genealogical notes about former owners, mainly information on the families of Richards and Street.

"Artist Naturalist" is how Dick described himself in his autobiographical book entitled "Other Edens" (1979). He established a reputation as one of the leading bird painters in the United States when he illustrated the "Warblers of America" (edited by Ludlow Griscom and Alexander Sprunt, Jr., 1957). He painted approximately 2,500 separate birds for the "Pictorial Guide to the Birds of the Indian Subcontinent" with text by Salim Ali and S. Dillon Ripley (1983).
