Snyder, Dudley Hiram Family Papers, 1851-1923

Dudley Hiram Snyder (1833-1921) was a cattleman, and in 1868 formed a partnership with his brother, John W. Snyder, with whom he drove large herds of cattle from Texas into Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming.

Dudley Hiram Snyder (1833-1921), cattleman, was born in Mississippi and moved to Round Rock, Texas, in 1854. He delivered beef cattle to the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Furthermore, he served as a conscription officer in Williamson County. After partnering with his brother, John W. Snyder, in 1868, they drove cattle to Wyoming, Colorado, and Kansas from Texas.
