Barbara Hillard Smith collection, 1903-1954

A small collection of material of noted vocalist soprano Barbara Hillard (Smith), 1903-54. The collection consists of diaries (1918-53, with gaps), scrapbooks, a baby record book, science class workbook, photographs, and newspaper clippings. Also included is her husband, Col. Fritz William Huntington's, recognition notebook for having served thirty years in the United States Army. Hillard's diaries describe school, daily activities, social engagements with family and friends, teaching, traveling through Italy by way of Paris while a student, early love interests, concerts performed, and in later years dealing with her husband's alcoholism while living in Texas.
