Baptists in the Middle East Collection, 1953-1993

This collection documents the missionary career of Southern Baptist Convention missionaries to Lebanon, David and Maxine King. The collection includes articles, clippings, lesson plans, reports, sermon notes, and subject files that reflect the Kings' missionary service to countries in the Middle East and North Africa. About half of the collection consists of the correspondence files King kept during his missionary service. A substantial portion of those correspondence includes letters between King and administrators at the Foreign Mission Board (now International Mission Board) and letters between King and other Middle East-area missionaries. The collection also contains materials surrounding the Lebanese Civil War from 1973 to 1977.
