Letters, 1873-1881.

In four chatty, somewhat ironic letters to Philippe Burty (1873-1883), Bonvin writes to his friend of his social life, professional aspirations, and failing health. He thanks Burty for his favorable criticism and solicits his help in obtaining a position at the Ecole de dessin in Paris. He mentions mutual friends in the literary and art world such as Edmond de Goncourt, Felix Bracquemond, Eugène Carrière, and a M. Edwards (who commissioned a painting). In a fifth letter to M. Diot (8/26/1881), Bonvin inquires as to the whereabouts of a mutual friend.
