John Paul Jones letter, 1787 November 11.

This letter from Jones was written on board the vessel Grace sailing out of the harbor of New York and is addressed "Dear Sir." Jones mentioned that he would receive from this unknown person explicit powers and instructions to conclude "the matter in question." He also mentioned that Mr. Jay would forward communications to Jones along with public dispatches, to the care of Mr. Jefferson.
