Edward MacEwen, an advertising executive with GTE Corporation, initiated in 1979 GTE's first support for a National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., exhibition and continued to coordinate GTE's activities funding Gallery exhibitions until he retired from GTE in 1996. MacEwen described his role as liaison between the Gallery and GTE and remembered his colleagues in both institutions. He recalled the exhibitions supported by GTE, noting the reasons for selecting each one, the special events and programs that accompanied exhibitions and how these benefitted the company.
