Thanking him for his letter of July 13; relating the particular concerns of the gunners in training that related to a lack of rating, the corresponding lack of special pay and the lack of some "distinctive and noticeable insignia of which they could be proud;" relating the larger specific concerns of claustrophobia in the gunners turrets and asking if some engineering design might address that issue; saying he has taken his physical examination and filed an application for a commission in the Air Force.
