Butler interviewed by Jeremy Sizemore, September 24, 2003, at Butler's home in Dothan, Ala. Sizemore conducted this interview to fulfill an assignment in the class HIS 4470, Oral History, Troy State University Dothan, Summer Semester, 2003. Interview donated by Butler and Sizemore to the Archives of Wiregrass History and Culture Veterans History Project. Butler discusses his guard training and experience, service as an Air Policeman, an attitudes towards military service.

Mr. Butler, born in 1936 in Houston County, Ala., served in the Alabama Air National Guard, 115th AC & W Squadron, 1959-1965, as an Air Policeman with the rank of Airman Second Class. He was called to duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but otherwise saw only training service. After service, Mr. Butler worked for Hedstrom Corporation in Dothan, Ala.
