Meigs family papers, 1678-1897.

Primarily correspondence, deeds and military papers of a Guilford, Connecticut family, some of whom removed to Vermont. Among the correspondents were Mary French Meigs and her children Ruth Meigs Bradley and Timothy Meigs. Military papers such as warrants and discharge papers exist for John French Meigs, Samuel Stone Meigs and Joseph Meigs. The earliest deeds belong to father and son, John Meigs. Assorted family papers include a will, estate and probate papers, and records of the Committee of the First School Society of which John French Meigs was a member.
