Consists of one autograph letter signed by Ulysses S. Grant to Maj. Gen. Gibbon requesting news of Atlanta from a Richmond paper regarding a reported fight in which "Sherman was worsted." The letter is dated 7 September 1864 from City Point, Va., and is on "Head Quarters Armies of the United States" stationery.
