Thanking her for some flowers; regretting that she missed Kenneth's lecture and the luncheon, noting that she was ill with influenza just before leaving Italy, and, although technically recovered, was very weak. Mentioning that she also missed a luncheon with Graham Greene, who was going to tell her about his adventures in a leper colony in the Belgian Congo. Mentioning some appointments she must keep and wondering when she will see her and Kenneth.

Kenneth Clark was an art historian and a patron of the arts. He was born in London, and educated at Winchester and Trinity College, Oxford, where he gained a second class in modern history. In the autumn of 1925, art historian Bernard Berenson asked him to assist him in the revision of his corpus of Florentine drawings.
