Lectures on English history, ca. 1850.

Bound volume containing the manuscripts, in the hand of Henry Reed, of a series of eight public lectures he gave on English history, presumably at the University of Pennsylvania. The first two lectures have a title page in Reed's hand, dated the 5th and the 12th of November 1850, respectively; the other lectures have no title page and are undated. The lectures (about 315 pages in total) appear to address British history from its beginnings, and Reed ends the last lecture with a remark that he has come up to the end of the era of the Middle Ages and the transition to modern history, the point at which his subject closes.
