William H. Trimble papers, 1909-1945, undated.

This collection contains correspondence, newspaper clippings, financial records, and class notes. Correspondence with family members includes letters from his mother, Lina; his wife, Grace; and his sister, Florence. The letters date 1910-1945 and include his school years through his military service in North Africa during World War II. There are newspaper clippings on topics such as his childhood in rural Hogansville, Georgia; novelist Corra Harris and her home in Bartow County, Georgia; and Trimble's family. Other newspaper clippings contain full sections of the Atlanta Journal rotogravure section of images. Other clippings cover topics such as the end of World War I, Woodrow Wilson's marriage, and the Southern Cross of Honor awards. There are bank records from his time at Emory University and a receipt for land taxes in 1941 as well as two maps of Alaska and Mexico from 1914 and 1916, respectively. Also included are Trimble's class notes from primary school in Hogansville, Georgia; notes from French and Biology undergraduate classes at Emory University; medical school notes and assignments from the University of Pennsylvania; and notes taken from the works of Dr. J. S. Todd; Dr. Willis F. Westmoreland; and Virgil O. Hardon while at the Atlanta Medical College. There are also textbooks, with notes in Trimble's hand, included in the collection and an article co-written by Trimble.

William H. Trimble was born in 1902 in Hogansville, Georgia, to William A. and Lina (Brazell) Trimble. He had a sister, Florence (1899-1998) who married Dr. Grover Jones of Macon, Georgia. William H. Trimble enrolled at Emory University in 1919 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and began studying medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1923.
