[Benjamin & William Sturges and Joseph Sturges ledger and Sturges family genealogy]

Most of the ledger contains customer ledgers from 1797-1798 when William and Benjamin Sturges had a store. One entry for 1794 lists purchases of china and glassware. Part of an alphabetical index of customers remains (I through Z). It is not known when the ledger was moved to New York. Beginning in 1818 records are kept by Joseph Sturges for his distilling business in western New York. Entries for 1824-1825 appear to be for a saw mill business. Four mortgages dated 1847-1850 are entered. Genealogical information for Sturges family members in Connecticut and New York is listed on random pages throughout. Birth dates for 8 children of William Sturges and Mary Osborn are given.
