Russell E. Day World War II photographs from the William Saroyan papers [graphic]. 1944-1945.

Original photographs compiled to illustrate Day's unpublished memoir Glory in My Hand. Includes World War II scenes documented by Day during his military service as a war photographer: U.S. Army soldiers during naval passage to Europe; various locations in London; American and English soldiers at leisure prior to the invasion of Normandy; ruins of the French towns of Carentan and Saint-Lò‚; the liberation of Paris; and the concentration camp at Dachau shortly after its liberation, some views depicting bodies of dead inmates. Includes a few photographs of Day and William Saroyan, as well as one photograph each of Charles de Gaulle in Paris, and Harry S. Truman and Joseph Stalin at the Potsdam Conference. Also includes photographs of documents pertaining to the Bronze Star and Za Zasluhy medals awarded to Day.
