[Caricature of the Laocoön] [graphic]. [ca. 1540-1545]

The satirical woodcut represents the ancient marble sculptural group of the Laocoön that was rediscovered in 1506 on the Esquiline in Rome and was acquired by Pope Julius II for the Belvedere. In the print, the Trojan priest Laocoön and his sons are being personified by apes.
