Chicago Daily News crime research collection, 1932-1995.

This collection consists of an unidentified Chicago Daily News reporter's research used in preparation for publishing a series of articles entitled "News and Views" that featured among others, John Dillinger and his gang. The reporter gathered various information from FBI agents. The collection contains official FBI reports, notes from interviews with FBI agents, excerpts from books, and article drafts. Among the criminals featured are: Baby Face Nelson, John Paul Chase, and John Meredith. In addition, FBI files are included for George Dasch, Carl Emil Ludwig Krepper, and W.D. Manley.

John Herbert Dillinger (June 22, 1903 – July 22, 1934) was an American gangster of the Great Depression. He led a group known as the "Dillinger Gang" which was accused of robbing 24 banks and 4 police stations. Dillinger escaped from jail twice. He was charged but not convicted of the murder of an East Chicago, Indiana, police officer who shot Dillinger in his bullet-proof vest during a shootout.
