Chiefly manuscripts, typescripts, layouts, galley proofs, and illustrations related to Mebane Burgwyn's juvenile fiction novels River Treasure (1947), Lucky Mischief (1949), Penny Rose (1952), Moonflower (1954), True Love for Jenny (1956), Hunters' Hideout (1959), and Crackajack Pony (1969). Also includes papers pertaining to a symposium dedicated to Burgwyn that was held at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C., in 2004.

Mebane Holoman Burgwyn (1914-1992) was an award-winning author of children's books. She was born in Rich Square, North Carolina; graduated from Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) in 1935 with a bachelor's degree in primary education; and secured a master's degree in guidance and counseling from East Carolina University in 1961.
