Clara Booth Byrd papers, 1892-1970.

Correspondence, speeches, blueprints, contracts, floor plans, annual reports, financial reports, and other papers pertain to Clara Booth Byrd's tenure as secretary of the Alumnae Association of the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) from 1922 to 1947. Materials reflect the everyday operations of the Alumnae Association as well as special events, including commencement, Founder's Day, the schools' fiftieth anniversary celebration, and building dedications. Papers chiefly document the construction of the Alumnae House during the 1930s. Topics include fundraising, designing and decorating the house, and overseeing the construction. Collection also includes contains papers relating to the operations of the Alumnae Association, such as annual reports, financial reports, and committee minutes, and Byrd's involvement with the American Alumni Council.

Clara Booth Byrd (1887-1985) of Harnett County, N.C., was alumnae secretary at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina from 1922 to 1947.
