Archaeologist Andrew L. Goldman of Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, shares his current (circa 2011) research on rare octagonal gemstones (including gems in the Getty collection) and the possibility that they are the product of an unknown central Anatolian workshop that catered to a mixed pagan and Christian clientele. Gertrude Platz-Horster, former vice-director of the Collection of Antiquities, Berlin, leads a discussion following the presentation.
