Rochester Institute of Technology annual reports contains annual reports for RIT and its predecessors from 1858 - 2001. Some years are missing. Information in individual reports varies, and can include statistics, information on the administration, finances, academic programs, events and people. Starting in 1938, individual college and school reports are sometimes available. Annual reports for the Rochester Institute of Technology (previously the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute) and its predecessor, the Mechanics Institute. The collection includes annual reports submitted by the university president, as well as reports from individual departments. Also included are supporting materials submitted with the departmental reports.

It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute. There are several other instances of African American students attending the school during the early 20th century as well...
