Materials related to the annual Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) United Way fundraising campaign. Included are prints, negatives, and slides of RIT United Way events from 1990-2000, There are also campaign films shown each year to start off the campaign in VHS and DVD for 1996, 2003, 2007, 2008. The RIT United Way campaign photographs and films collection contains photographic materials documenting the annual employee fundraising campaign. Events documented include United Way walk/run, the Taste of RIT, golf tournament, and the kick-off. Also included in the collection are videotapes of United Way campaign films for the years 1996, 2003, 2007, 2008 in the form of VHS and DVD. There is one audio cassette tape of the United Way "93" Feel Good Again campaign and a Macintosh formatted zip disk with RIT United Way posters 2000.

It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute. There are several other instances of African American students attending the school during the early 20th century as well...
