Robert Howe (1732-1786) was a major-general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. He served as justice of the peace in Bladen and Brunswick counties, N.C., and member of the North Carolina Assembly. Philip Minis (1734-1789), the son of Abraham and Abigail Minis, was the first white male child born in Georgia; he was born on July 11. In 1774, Minis married Judith Polack (1745-1819). He was a very successful merchant in Savannah. An active patriot during the Revolutionary War, his name is listed on the 1780 Georgia Disqualifying Act, a British document listing people who supported the patriots, and who therefore could not hold public office.
