Joshua Burnham papers [microform], 1758-1817.

Ships' papers (1761-1790), arranged chronologically by name of vessel, documenting Burnham's activities as master on fishing and merchant vessels involved in U.S. coastwise and West Indian trade, including information relating to work performed on the sloop Robinwood; shipping account books (1763-1788) reflecting trade with merchants in Maryland and Virginia, including journals concerning voyages of the sloop Phoenix (1782) and schooner Swan (1780); and business and family papers (1758-1817) consisting of correspondence and legal and financial papers pertaining to Burnham's shipping and business affairs, merchant correspondence, bonds and deeds, miscellaneous shipping accounts, estate records, and other papers. Includes shipping and business correspondence of his brother, Mark Burnham (b. 1738), and personal correspondence, deeds, and financial papers of Joshua's wife, Eunice, and their children, Caleb (b. 1771), Joshua (b. 1763), Sukey (b. 1779), and Betsey (b. 1776). Other persons represented include Joshua Choate, Daniel Rogers, and Ezekiel Woodward, Jr., merchants and owners of vessels mastered by Burnham.
