James A. Shedd was born February 25, 1804, in Rindge, N.H., and died September 24, 1876, in Denmark, Iowa. He was admitted to the bar in Champaign Co., Ohio, in 1831. He later settled in Dayton, Ohio, where he practiced law and married Eunice Augusta Adams (1805-1846) in 1833, with whom he would have six children.
