William Beebe served as Director of the Department of Tropical Research from the department's official creation in 1923 until his retirement in 1952, when he became Director Emeritus. John Tee-Van served as Assistant in Tropical Research, 1917 through 1924, General Assistant from 1925 through 1930, and General Associate from 1931 until 1941. This collection consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence, blueprints, and some notes pertaining to the following subjects: identification of specimens, oceanographic equipment and techniques, departmental expenses, and motion picture techniques. This collection also contains correspondence from Department of Tropical Research Entomologist Henry Fleming.
