Role-playing initiation stories, 2003.

Sanderson describes role playing games (RPGs): different kinds of RPGs (the best-known of which is Dungeons and Dragons) and the rules of play. He summarizes that "the experience is about creating an imaginary person, then acting it out in a group setting." Sanderson interviews several players of RPGs about their first experiences with the games. He defends role playing games against criticism that they encourage occult practices or that they are psychologically dangerous. Sanderson also describes differences in the way males and females think of and play the games.
