Collection contains a resume and drafts of three memoirs: Riding the Ruins: An American Red Cross Clubmobile Girl in Provence, France and Occupied Germany about Fessenden's service in the Red Cross Clubmobile from 1945 to 1947; Encounters in China, 1985-2000, about her teaching trips to China, including one that coincided with the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989; and The Curtains, about her relationship with Hungarian cultural historian and politician, Béla Köpeczi.

Anne Lathrop Fessenden is an American teacher, poet, and memoirist. She studied at the University of Paris, Sorbonne (1947-1948), received her BA from Barnard College (1949), and received her MA and PhD (1971) from Columbia University. In 1949, she received a Fulbright and studied at the University of Bruxelles.
