Collection includes three pieces of correspondence, receipts, and sundry bills of exchange. One letter, dated 1843, written by Daniel Fisher of Edgartown, Massachusetts to Johnathan Chapman of Boston, Massachusetts, discusses impact of individuals in the whaling industry in the upcoming election; Fisher indicates the willingness to adopt any course of action considered expedient by the Whig State Central Committee. A second letter, dated 1849, is written by Edwin Herrick to an unnamed individual while Herrick is in Rio de Janeiro waiting for his ship to be repaired. The third letter, dated 1824, pertains to the sale of indigo. An extensive bill of exchange provides accounts of I. L. Steinbach; this document lists names of ships and types of cargo transported, along with an extensive lising of individuals involved in the transaction. Three receipts and/or scratch papers for invoice calculations are included in this collection.
