Florence Youmans diaries, 1898-1900.

Youmans writes about her family life in Winona, Minnesota (parents' travels, business) and her activities (lessons, practicing banjo, sewing, attending plays, weddings, clothes shopping, visiting schools) and gives details of a number of women's schools she visits in person in 1900. Eventually she chooses to attend the Ogontz School, Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, and writes about her first days on campus.

Florence Grafton Youmans, granddaughter of Earle Stimson Youmans, banker and politician, and daughter of Charles M. and Grace G. Youmans, of Winona, Minnesota, attended the Ogontz School, Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. She became a suffragist, and was arrested in 1917 for picketing outside the White House.
