Lyman family papers, 1814-1928.

The Lyman family papers includes journals, passports, and a folder of family documents. The travel journals were kept by Helen Lyman (1905, 1927-1928). Includes the passports of James G. Bolles, Theodore Lyman, and Helen Lyman. Among the documents are a recipe for strong beer or draft porter, receipts, a rental agreement, a fire insurance policy, and membership certificates. Many of these belonged to Simeon Lyman and Helen Lyman. Other items are a Foreign Service Certificate awarded to Helen Lyman for her work during World War I, and obituary for Benjamin Lyman. Unusual to the collection are two cards with information about refugees from France following the war. An article written by Helen Lyman, for the Hartford Courant, about the post-war conditions in France is part of the collection. Other items from Lyman's rebuilding efforts include a pamphlet on the American Committee for Devastated France and the itinerary of the Good Will Delegation, France, 1922. Theodore Lyman was Helen's father. James Bolles married Orra Lyman, Theodore's aunt.
