South School Gang records, 1921-1947.

Meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, treasurers reports, invitations, lists of members, receipts and other papers of the South School Association of the Eighties. This organization was formed by alumni of the Hartford, Connecticut South School. Much of the collection pertains to Mrs. Grace Kilby's tenure as Treasurer of the "gang," a moniker the association gave themselves. J. W. Tyroll, Raoul W. D'Arche and William J. O'Brien were also quite involved. Also part of the collection are a bank book and a photograph from one of the outings. Flowers were sent upon the death of club members, and notes of thanks for these expressions of sympathy are also among the papers. The meeting minutes state that the gang was formed in 1921. They met annually; disbanding, per a newspaper clipping, in 1947. The remainder of their treasury was donated to the Newington Children's Hospital.
