Average evening library attendance is recorded for 1934-1935 and 1937-1938, also month by month. Some years include total amounts spent on the purchase of books and periodicals. Although the volume is titled "fines record," no fines are listed. On the last page is a statistical summary of the Geneseo Normal School library (a visit was made for comparison on January 4, 1923). The Periodical Accessions volume contains a listing of purchased periodicals with publisher, title, and cost for the years 1897-1902.

The Rochester Athenaeum was established in 1829 with the "purpose of cultivating and promoting literature, science and the arts." To this end, the organization established a library and sponsored various guest speakers and performers. Still, by 1838 the Athenaeum had already merged with several institutes.
