This collection about Charles Wakefield Cadman (American composer and pioneer of Native American-themed operas and chorale music) was compiled by his long-term friend and close associate, John A. Sherman. It includes photographs, sheet music, a catalog of Cadman's music, articles, a dissertation about Cadman, and two booklets about Tsianina (Redfeather) Blackstone. Also included are audiotapes of Cadman playing, correspondence, and a diary of Sherman's with notes on Cadman's acvtivities.

Composer and pianist Charles Wakefield Cadman was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, in 1881; he dropped out of school at 13 and taught himself to play the piano, supplemented by music lessons. He wrote and performed a variety of music, and is perhaps best-known for music based on Native American influences.
