William John Hagerty Interview, 2002.

In this interview William Hagerty (b. 1909) discusses growing up in Browning; moving to and working in Butte from 1927 to 1940s; work on mine tailings in Anaconda; work on Going-To-The-Sun Highway as oiler for the trucks and shovels; moving to Libby to work for Zonolite in late 1940s as a hauler and shovel operator; work for J. Neils Lumber in 1950s and later St. Regis Lumber in crane operations; community activities; camping and fishing; role of saloons and bars in social life of Libby; assistance provide to community from various business' including J. Neils, Zonolite; water and air quality; access to vermiculite; hazards of timber work; starting Hagerty and Schmock Crane Service; asbestosis in the community and his own health issues. (OH 2024)
