Collection consists of materials from art academies, assorted writings by Kitaj, personal and business correspondence, publicity materials, and assorted miscellaneous materials. Of particular interest are Kitaj's autobiographical writings, correspondence with individuals such as David Hockney, Lee Friedlander, Peter Blake, Frank Aurback, and Phillip Roth, napkin sketches, and A Day Book--a collaboration between Kitaj and Robert Creely. The collection also contains numerous letters to and from galleries, museums, universities, and publishers, as well as meeting minutes and other materials from the Royal Academy of Art.
